I just bought a nokia asha 302 as a replacement for my nokia e63 of 3 years that was recently damaged in heavy rains and floods in my area. My only impression so far is that the nokia e63 was a far better phone and that the asha are a huge step down fromthe e-series. I mean this thing has no multitask. Anyway, its okay for its price tag but i find the whole no multitask to be a huge disability of this phone. I looked far and wide for another nokia e63 or even e72 but they appear to have been discontinued.Anyhow, i digress. My main question here is how do i get the apps i download such as whatsapp, opera mini, etc to appear in the menu?

Currently i hav to use a roundabout method, first to 'My Apss' then to the app i want. Is there no way to get that program'sicon out on the menu, so that i dont have to go to my apps first? Also, is there no option of long press of button to open a specific app, as was the norm in the e-series?Lastly and this would solve all problems, is there any way at all i can get ths symbian s60, more specifically 3rd edition, more specifically exactly like that of nokia e63, on to this nokia asha 302? Some sort of hack or flashing or whatever? Thanks in advance, help much appreciated. Sorry, but asha phones are not the evolution of the E series phones.

E series phones are symbian. Asha 302 is a s40, you can't change the OS, it's a different hardware and symbian is no more in development (discontinued).Ashas are more basic phones, and do not support multi-tasking.I consider the 302 an upgrade over the older C3.

Which is very similar. You can't modify the icon list in the menu. But you can add a shortcut to your app in your home screen.Follow these steps:menu - settings - display - home screen - (check for home screen ON) - personalize view - shortcuts bar - application list. The 'application list' is a little folder, when you select it, you will see a list with some apps, I believe they are the most used ones. Select Opera mini from there. I just tested this and it works.I'm currently using another way to quickly open my apps folder, and that is to modify the navigation keys shortcuts, when I press left I get access to 'my apps' folder.Hope that helps.

Oh alright thanks. I also have a few other problems so farcontacts: how can i save contact to sim card? Currently every contact i save is automatically saved to phone memory, i have to copy each contact after i save it. Can i not set it to save by default to sim?call: i had a feature; contact search on my nokia e63 where i type out the name and it brings out the contacts.

Is this not possible on the asha 302?music player: unable to edit song details, ive tried several java mp3 tag apps, but they are slow and dont work. Also, whatsapp and wechat voice messages and notifcation tones appear in my library, obviously i wouldnt want that.also, i meant earlier that companies should be moving forward and while the asha 302 may not have been made to be a continuation of the e series, why is it far less superior? This is why nokia is out of the game now. MaxAcenz wrote:why is it far less superior? It is a different operating system, Series 40 versus Symbian/S60. A lot of features are available here and there.

Some features are missing there and here. You might be better off with a Nokia E6.MaxAcenz wrote:whatsapp and wechat voice messages and notifcation tones appear in my libraryOn your memory card create a folder called and enable the System file system flag for it.MaxAcenz wrote:how do i get the apps i download such as whatsapp, opera mini, etc to appear in the menu? How do i do that? And how does that prevent whatsapp and wechat and other notification message from appearing in music library? Also what about mu. MaxAcenz wrote:I dont get that Extra folder thing? Enable system file?

How do i do that? And how does that prevent whatsapp and wechat and other notification message from appearing in music library? On a Windows computer, you create a folder called Extra in the root of your memory card. Then you open the properties of that folder and enable theSystem flag. Within that folder you have to create several predef folders. With that, the music library knows where to seach for Music. At least that helped here.
